Vancouver’s peppy and boisterous Broadway Chorus twists and turns and spins Charles Dickens’ classic Christmas tale on its ear in A Kitsmas Carol, a song-and-dance musical adventure featuring upbeat, toe-tapping dance numbers and heartfelt ballads that'll get the tears a-flowing.
We all know the story, but we’ve never seen it like this: cranky and selfish Sally Catherine ‘S.C.’ Rooge, yoga-clothing manufacturer, is whisked away on a journey through her past, present and future by a trio of off-kilter ghosts. Sure, that sounds a lot like ‘A Christmas Carol,’ but this is 21st Century Kitsilano, and in this quirky and heartfelt spoof (the Broadway Chorus’ first-ever show at the Roundhouse Community Centre), S.C. Rooge contends with French revolutionaries, 1980s nightclub dancers, and creepy robots, and reconnects with her true self through songs from Broadway, the movies, pop hits, and beloved seasonal favourites (and that song from Band-Aid!). Christmas will never be the same!
